It will explore a range of scholarly, and visual texts in order to understand the interdisciplinary field of Asian American Studies. The course also introduces students to key scholarly works, theories, literature, and frameworks that inform the field of Asian American Studies. Emphasis is placed on establishing a framework from which to view the historical development and treatment of Chicanas and women of color in modern society. Students will analyze selected issues such as gender identity, cultural representation, labor, and activism.
