    This course examines the theories, methods and practices of communication that contribute to productivity and efficiency in private and public organizations. Emphasis is placed on the social science implications of communication and includes topics such as internal and external communication, interpersonal and group processes, and international communication. COMM C1000 Introduction to Public Speaking (CSU, UC) (Formerly COMS 100) Units: 3 Lecture Hours: 54 Lab Hours: 0 Outside Hours: 108 Grading Method: Letter Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable Conditions of Enrollment: None In this course, students learn and apply foundational rhetorical theories and techniques of public speaking in a multicultural democratic society. Students discover, develop, and critically analyze ideas in public discourse through research, reasoning, organization, composition, delivery to a live audience and evaluation of various types of speeches, including informative and persuasive speeches.
