    Description
This course is a survey of the evolution of Graphic Design beginning with the development of writing and ending with the revolution of digital media. It looks at the history of visual communication and how it has evolved in art, graphic design, illustration and popular culture from the 19th century to the latest trends and technologies. The survey takes into account sociopolitical and cultural contexts as well as artistic and technological characteristics of specific art movements. Students will engage in multiple in-depth discussions as well as create visual timelines to document the historical context, people, events, and creative work that have shaped the field of graphic design.
