    FIRE 9122 - HM First Responder/Operational Outcomes Identify first responder operational roles Recognize hazardous materials Recognize haz mat labels, placards, shipping papers, and MSDS's Describe basic first responder operational initial actions Describe purpose and need to safely initiate command Demonstrate proper information flow to command post Cite assessment techniques Demonstrate use of DOT emergency response guide Explain the need, criteria, and limits of protective equipment Cite the proper protective action options for stabilizing a scene Identify need for appropriate contamination of victims, responders and equipment Identify need and method to communicate and coordinate with various agencies Identify the local contingency plan to be followed in the participants jurisdiction Identify the legal role and rights of the media at a Haz Mat scene Demonstrate the proper safe first responder actions given a simulated Haz Mat event
