Explain and demonstrate the skills necessary to perform basic rescue operations including auto extrication, swiftwater, confined space, and first responder. Demonstrate the proper methods to operate, inspect, and maintain firefighting and rescue equipment. Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis is the continuation of Fire 0951A—Firefighter I and 2 Academy. Students successfully completing the Fire Academy (FIRE 0951A Firefighter Academy I and 2 and FIRE 0952 Firefighter Academy I and 2) will be eligible for California State Fire Marshal Certification as a Firefighter I and 2, California Fire Service Training and Education System (CFSTES) certification as a Firefighter II once they complete the experience requirement and Taskbook. In addition, students will receive certificates for Swift Water Awareness, Confined Space Awareness, HAZMAT FRO/WMD, HAZMAT Decontamination, Firefighter Survival, Fire Control 3, Rope Rescue Awareness/Operations, and Vehicle Extrication. The students will also receive all the National Wildland Coordinating Group (NWCG) certifications needed for entry-level wildland firefighters. With these certifications, students will be qualified for entry-level firefighter positions in federal, state, county, and municipal fire departments.
