Outcomes Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for the patient with neurological, endocrine, anaphylactic, allergic, gastrointestinal, renal, toxic, and hemopoietic emergencies. Apply an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system to the assessment and management of a patient experiencing normal or abnormal labor. Integrate pathophysiological principles to formulate field impression and implement the treatment plan for neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric patients, diverse patients, abused and chronically ill patients. Safely manage the scene of an emergency, utilize guidelines of air and ground transport, and integrate the I principles of multiple casualty incident (MCI) management techniques. Integrate the principles of rescue awareness and operations to safely rescue a patient from water, hazardous atmospheres, trenches, highways, and hazardous terrain. Develop an awareness of the human hazard of crime and violence and the safe operation at crime scenes and other emergencies. Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis course provides the required paramedic clinical rotations, individually arranged for each student at various days and times, at one of the acute care hospitals in northern California. Students attend 3 clinical shifts per week. Students must be willing to accept hospital placements in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Student must be available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
