Analyze the relationship between observation, planning, implementation and assessment in developing effective teaching strategies supporting learning and development. Examine a range of guidance strategies designed to increase early social competence and support problem solving in a diverse and caring classroom community . AND ECE 1002 - Child Development Minimum Grade: C Recognize and apply major theories of child development in analyzing the role of developmental milestones across domains. Analyze how systemic social, economic, political, historical and cultural context affect children's development. Apply the principles, perspectives and methods, of inquiry used in the Scientific Method in effectively communicating research results and conclusions relevant to child development in day-to-day practice. AND ECE 1003 - Child, Family and Community Minimum Grade: C Recognize and analyze theories of socialization that address the interrelationship of child, family and community. Understand research methodology and synthesize and analyze research regarding social issues, changes, and transitions that affect children, families and their community. Critique strategies that support and empower families through respectful, reciprocal relationships involving all families in their children's development and learning. Systemically assess community support services and agencies and personal values, goals, and biases as they may affect relationships with children and families. AND ECE 1500 - Introduction to Curriculum Minimum Grade: C Recognize the connection between theory, classroom practice, and authentic assessment Apply developmentally appropriate practices in scaffolding development young children, using self-reflection and awareness of systemic biases. Design and implement curriculum, based on observation and assessment of young children, to support play and learning across the domains based in inclusive, and anti-bias principles. The lecture component of this course may be offered in a distance education format. The lab portion of this course must be done at an approved site under the guidance of a certified Mentor Teacher. Practicum students are required to meet all vaccination requirements and any legal clearances required for volunteers in early education settings pursuant to California state law and individual program requirements.
