OR BIO 2100 - General Biology I: The Unity of Life Outcomes Analyze and interpret peer-reviewed scientific papers in Biology. Illustrate cell structure and function (including membranes) and describe the processes that take place in the cell; describe the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells Design and implement an experiment, collect, analyze (using descriptive and inferential statistics), and interpret data, develop and present conclusions Describe and distinguish roles of major classes of biological molecules; illustrate key structural features Demonstrate knowledge of energy transformations and transfers within cells including respiration, fermentation, and photosynthesis OR CHEM 1000 - Introduction to Chemistry Outcomes Using the periodic table, atomic structure and chemical and physical processes, examine the states of matter, covalent and ionic bonding and intermolecular forces. Safely perform basic laboratory techniques while observing and recording data to formulate and test hypotheses by applying the scientific method OR CHEM 2000 - General Chemistry I Outcomes Demonstrate an understanding of the relationships between solids, liquids, gases, solutions and their energy using basic chemical and physical processes as well as detailed atomic and bonding theories. Using proper safety guidelines within the laboratory, demonstrate fundamental techniques, operate modern chemical instruments and accurately interpret data to draw reasonable conclusions. OR BIO 1000 - Introduction to Life Sciences Outcomes Describe important concepts in cellular and molecular biology,organisms, evolution, ecology, and genetics. Analyze scientific issues by applying an understanding of cellular and molecular biology, organisms, evolution, ecology, and genetics. Explain the nature of science and engage in scientific inquiry. Analyze and interpret quantitative data and visual representations of data. OR 1 year high school chemistry OR Passing score on either the AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Biology CLEP, or Chemistry CLEP exams

    Description
    An introduction to human physiology. Focus is on the physiological principles, function, integration and homeostasis of the human body at the cellular, tissue, organ, organ system and organism level: integumentary system, bone, skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles, nervous system, sensory organs, cardiovascular system, lymphatic and immune systems, respiratory system, urinary system, digestive system, endocrine system, and reproductive system. Labs include experiments on human subjects as well as simulations of complex physiological processes. This course is primarily intended for Nursing, Allied Health, Kinesiology, and other health-related majors. It may also be taken as a life science elective. Lab. C-ID BIOL 120 B.
