    Description
    A capstone course performing fundamental chairside assisting functions and permitted duties in clinical dentistry. Students participate by assisting in patient care in the Dental Health Center and additional contracted clinical sites in the community. Faculty assess progress in both onsite and additional clinical sites to further develop competency level in patient care. Psychology of patient management, interpersonal communication, teamwork, as well as legal and ethical aspects of dentistry are emphasized. Clinical competency in patient care is required throughout the semester (270 Clinical Hours) to meet Commission on Dental Accreditation and Dental Board of California requirements. Students are graded in the clinical setting based on objective criteria and required to complete a daily timesheet. Note: Admittance in the program is required and all fall semester pre-requisites courses must be successfully completed with a 75% or above to progress to spring semester cohort. Uniform Required.
