Transfers ToUC and CSUCal-GETC Area 4 · IGETC Area 4 · CSU GE Area DDescriptionThis course provides an examination of United States institutions of social, political and economic power from the history and experiences of minoritized populations such as African Americans, Latinas/os, Native Americans, Women, Asian Americans, and Immigrants. Students will analyze the U.S. Constitution as well the legislative, executive and judicial branches of governance with regard to citizenship, pluralism, and civil rights and liberties. Other emphases will be on diverse forms of political participation and how it influences U.S. institutions at the local, state and federal levels in movements towards achieving social justice.
