    Description
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of two dimensional design. Through hands-on assignments, various traditional and contemporary design techniques are covered which include the use of pencil, paper and paint. Mixed media applications are introduced at the end of the course. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on the study and use of basic visual elements of line, shape, texture, space, time, color theory, conceptual development, and organizational principles of compositional structure. These techniques enable students to gain experience in organizing their thoughts in solving design problems and to communicate visual images as creative statements.
