Explores the role of imbalances of power in society, social movements, culture, politics and institutions. Inter-disciplinary study to social justice movements in relation to ethnic and racial groups in the United States to provide a basis for a better understanding of the socio-economic, cultural, and political conditions among key social groups. The course also explores a broad range of issues including notions of inequality based on race, class, gender, sexuality, and issues related to environmental injustice, the criminal punishment system, and human rights.
