Topics include teaching as a profession and career, foundations of the American education system, contemporary educational issues, and California's content and teacher performance standards. In addition to class time, this course requires a minimum of 45 hours of structured fieldwork in a college-approved Transitional Kindergarten � 12th grade public school classroom that represents California's diverse student population and includes cooperation with at least one credentialed classroom teacher.
