Specifically, emphasis is placed upon reaction mechanisms, energetics, stereochemistry, retrosynthesis, and spectroscopy. Laboratory experiments focus on purification and analysis techniques such as recrystallization, chromatography, distillations, and liquid-liquid extractions.
