By examining the histories, cultures, and folkways of various civilizations, this course chronicles the story of humanity to 1500 CE. Emphasis is given to the rise of civilizations, the emergence of global economies, innovations in science and technology, as well as cultural, intellectual and religious traditions. Comparative ideas concerning race, gender, ethnicity, and sexuality are also examined throughout the course.
