This skills lab introduces clinical medical assisting performance and skills techniques and procedures common to primary care in a family practice medical office: vital signs, anthropometric measurements, assisting with minor office surgery, promoting tissue healing through selected physical therapy modalities, demonstrating appropriate sterilization and disinfection procedures, safely operating the autoclave, performing sterile and nonsterile dressing changes, responding to emergencies, performing visual and auditory irrigation, medication administration, ear acuity testing, and positioning the patient for selected specialty exams.
