    Description
    (No prerequisite. Advisory: Eligibility for college-level composition, ENGL C1000/ ENGL C1000H/ ENGL C1000E/C-ID ENGL 100 or equivalent.) This humanities sequence introduces students to Western culture. This course focuses on the developing Renaissance and the impact on Europe's "rebirth" of Asian and Arabic ideas; the scientific revolution of Shakespeare's England; the political revolutions of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries; Romanticism; the new paradigms of Freud, Marx, and Darwin; and the Age of Anxiety.
