    Description
    (Prerequisite: DENT 176.) This course introduces the physical and chemical properties of dental materials, and the preparation, placement, adjustment and removal of direct provisional restorations within the scope of the registered dental assistant (RDA) and in compliance with state regulations. The laboratory instructional material covers the applications of placement of temporary sedative restorations, placement of cement bases and liners, fabrication of preliminary impression materials, fabricating temporary crowns and restorations, preparing final impression materials, and four-handed dentistry techniques including composite/bonding and crown/bridge dental procedures. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to begin clinical rotation experiences in the next phase of the dental assisting program.
