    (No prerequisite.) This course covers the major theatrical traditions as well as dance as a social, cultural and religious expression. It describes dance history and anthropology from six continents and highlights the important ways in which dance functions in human societies. The course focuses on dance as an expression of social order and power, as classical art, as a medium of cultural fusion, and as an expression of individual artists.
