Students apply argumentative theory to write research-based briefs and persuasive essays, attending to audience, purpose, context, genre, and voice. In writing and orally, students engage with current issues by analyzing, criticizing, and generating complex ideas, engaging in inductive and deductive reasoning, developing arguments using theoretical models, distinguishing fact from opinion, identifying logical fallacies, critically evaluating research sources and statistical information, and engaging in self-reflection.
