    Description
(No prerequisite. Advisory: BIOL 110 and 110L. Class includes field trips. Field trips may meet earlier and run later than scheduled to take advantage of low tides.) This laboratory and field course provides an overview of marine plant and animal communities, including fundamental physical oceanography, marine ecology, marine zoology, marine botany, and field studies, emphasizing local marine communities: rocky intertidal estuaries, salt marshes, sandflats, mudflats, and floating docks. Laboratory investigations include phytoplankton and zooplankton studies, fish identification and internal morphology, marine invertebrate identification, and marine algae preservation techniques.
