    Description
    (Prerequisites: BIOL 110, BIOL 110L, CHEM 114 or higher, completion of Intermediate Algebra or the equivalent or placement based on AB 705 mandates. Eligibility for college level composition, English 150 (1A) or the equivalent. The Biology and Chemistry prerequisites must have been completed within the past 5 years.) This course, intended for biology majors, covers basic topics in evolution and ecology as well as fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, and classification of protozoa, algae, fungi, animals and plants. In the laboratory, students explore these themes with hands-on observations, dissections, laboratory activities and field exercises. Three lecture and six laboratory hours weekly. BIOL 111A is not a prerequisite for BIOL 111B. Since BIOL 111B has Chemistry 131 prerequisite, students may wish to register for BIOL 111A and CHEM 131 during the same semester.
