    Description
    (No prerequisite.) This beginning course focuses on painting the human figure. Working from models, students develop skill with skin tones, light and shadow, and techniques such as underpainting, using both acrylic and oil paints. Lectures, demonstrations, critiques, and supervision of work in progress. The course examines images throughout art history as well as contemporary work employing the human figure as subject matter. Individual styles and using the figure as narrative are explored. Painting and/or a portfolio of work in and out of class may be required.
