Students focus on the application and building of technical skills to solve a diverse range of painting problems, applying a working understanding of diverse pigments and their properties in illusionistic, expressive, and/or abstract contexts. Because students in this course usually exhibit a broad range of skills, a selection of assignment choices are offered that intend to foster independence and the development of individual interests, subjects, styles, and genres.
