The possible beginnings of language to the contemporary use and change of language is examined. The course identifies how language is used to exert power, influence, identity, and control. It evaluates whether language causes humans to view the world through the individual language spoken and compares linguistic diversity. The importance of culture in regard to language is emphasized.
