Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course introduces OTA students to pediatric occupational therapy (OT) practice through hands-on lab experience and 40 hours of Level I fieldwork. Students will learn essential skills for working with children and adolescents, focusing on both typical and atypical development. Emphasis is placed on the OT process to enhance pediatric clients' occupational performance across various settings. Fieldwork is divided into 20 hours with typically developing children and 20 hours with children with atypical development, aiming to improve observational skills, understanding of developmental milestones, and therapeutic approaches in real-world environments. Upon completion, students will demonstrate foundational knowledge and skills for the delivery of pediatric OT services, applying evidence-based practices and clinical reasoning to support the occupational needs of pediatric clients.
