    Description
    This course explores the history of Africa from the origins of humankind to the present day. The focus of this class is on the social, political, economic, environmental, and cultural forces that have shaped the diverse societies of the African continent. Themes include: patterns of settlement, interaction and trade, the rise of ancient civilizations, colonialism, slavery, nationalism, independence and globalization.
