Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis course teaches college preparatory writing, introduction to literary analysis, and research skills. The following English skills are an integral part of this course: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and vocabulary. Reading assignments will include poetry, short stories, and drama. Additionally, students learn to critique each other’s work and use these editing skills on their own papers. Students will be introduced to the process of gathering information needed for clarification of reading or the beginning of writing. Spelling and content words will be chosen from the assigned readings. Oral reports, readings, and recitations are incorporated into this course. The course format will include activity-based investigations with hands-on activities, concepts, and applications compliant with the adopted California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts to meet the minimum course requirements for high school graduation.
