    Description
    Survey of poetry written in English from the Middle Ages through the present day, with an emphasis on modern examples of poetry that celebrate diverse identities, communities and experiences. Increases students' knowledge of poetry, its history and relevant poetic movements. Strengthens their ability to holistically analyze and synthesize poetic works for content, context, structure and historical/societal significance. Special attention is given to poetic voice, syntax, figures of speech, sonics, and forms. Note: English 33 is not a creative writing course.
