The course is an introduction to the principles of chemistry including inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Topics covered include measurements, properties and classification of matter, atomic structure, bonding and nomenclature, chemical equations, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions, acids, bases and pH, equilibrium, nuclear chemistry, and organic and biochemical structure and reactions. Laboratory work will provide hands-on activities to teach laboratory skills and support the concepts presented in the lecture.
