    Description
    This course introduces students to visual art and architecture from prehistory to the medieval era with a focus on art from Europe, North Africa, and the near East. The course will further consider global interactions involving these regions. Analysis of how symbolism and artistic style reflect the daily life, philosophy, religion, values, and concerns of each culture and historical period. Note: ARTH C1100 replaced ARTH-3 beginning with the fall 2026 term.
