Lectures will present lighting and contemporary retouching techniques for professional studio portraiture. Topics also include self-portraiture, extended environmental portraiture, typological portraits, narrative, documentary portraiture, candid camera, the snapshot aesthetic, figurative portraiture, directorial portraiture, and fashion. Issues regarding idolatry, gender and sexuality, "the gaze," ethics, exploitation, and legal questions will be explored.
