Analyzes the ways in which social problems are constructed, defined, and addressed. Topics include income and wealth disparities, structural poverty, institutional racism, gender discrimination, families, health care, education, and the criminal justice system. Highlights student research, writing, and reporting, both individually and as part of a learning community, and will often meet in a seminar format. This honors course provides enhanced academic rigor with demands that exceed those of a standard version of the course. May be offered in a distance-learning format.
