Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionPrepares students to apply for certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and to provide care to clients across a variety of healthcare settings. This course serves as the theory component required to meet the state-mandated curriculum. Instruction and practice include patient rights, interpersonal communication, safety, infection control, fundamental clinical skills, nutrition, rehabilitation, documentation, and end-of-life care. Students successfully completing both theory and clinical courses are eligible to take the California Department of Public Health CNA certification exam. While this course is best taken in person, it may be offered in a distance-learning format under special circumstances. Limitations on enrollment: CPR certification required prior to the course. Students must be over 16 years old at the time of the course start. Students must provide documentation of medical history and physical examination.
