    Description
    In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. This is an honors course. Readings serve as models for student work, sources for research, and a catalyst for class discussions. Emphasis is on writing for various audiences, purposes, and contexts. This honors course provides enhanced academic rigor with demands that exceed those of a standard version of the course. Honors section stresses self-guided academic inquiry and in-depth research and analysis. May be offered in a distance-learning format. Transfers to CSU; UC, with limits: ENGL C1000, C1000H, 1AMC, 1AMCH, and ESL 1A combined: maximum credit, 1 course.
