Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis course prepares students for college-level study by developing effective reading skills for discipline-specific reading assignments in transfer-level and CTE coursework. It is designed to supplement concurrent enrollment in Butte College courses. This course builds upon the Reading Apprenticeship framework. Emphasis is placed on pre- and post-reading strategies, annotation strategies, strategies for retention, research strategies appropriate to discipline, metacognitive reflection, and investigating the relationship between literacy and power within the students’ chosen disciplines.
