    Description
    ESL college composition and reading offers instruction in expository and argumentative writing, appropriate and effective use of language, close reading, cogent thinking, research strategies, information literacy, and documentation. Writing includes essays and research paper. This course is equivalent to English 1A but is designed for speakers of other languages as they delve into college level coursework. Assignments and methodology focus on diversity of perspectives and voice. Not available for students who have successfully completed English 1A. Recommended Preparation: ESL 138 or ESL 188 or eligibility for college level composition as determined by AB705: Guided Self Placement.
