- This course provides students with the historical framework, concepts, and precedents that guide correctional practice. It covers the correctional environment, civil rights of prisoners, and responsibilities of corrections staff. Students will explore the evolution of correctional systems, key legal principles, and landmark cases. The course will also address contemporary issues in corrections practice, such as inmate rights and staff obligations.
