Completion of ENGL 101. This course examines British literature from the Anglo-Saxon period to the early Neoclassical. Texts from a diverse range of poetry, plays, and prose are analyzed and connected to their original historical and cultural contexts, and explored in relation to more recent history and contemporary interpretations. This survey highlights critical thinking, close textual reading, and analytical writing. (C-ID: ENGL 160) (UC, CSU, AVC) (GE: IGETC Area 3B, CSU Area C2, AVC Area C)
