    Description
    police department, sheriff's office, marshal's office, the California Highway Patrol, the Department of Justice, or the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and are authorized by their agencies to possess short-barreled rifles within the course and scope of their duties. This course builds upon the student's existing skills and knowledge in the legal, safe, and proper use of firearms in the law enforcement environment. It is designed for AR15 style and mini-14 style rifles with high-capacity magazines and standard duty pistols. Instruction includes use of force, safe and proper handling of the patrol rifle, consideration of environmental factors, skill development, and tactical shooting and movement. Completion of this course satisfies the legislative training mandate to possess short barrel rifles as specified in Penal Code section 33220(b) and the California Commission on Peace Officer Training and Standards (POST) training requirement to possess long barrel rifles as specified in Commission Regulation 1081. This course is formerly known as SCSD 1221. Pass/No Pass only.
