This California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)-certified course provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide instruction for the use of impact weapons in the public safety environment. Topics include legal issues and points of authority in the use of force; POST expanded course outlines and lesson plans; preparing for physical skills instruction; injury prevention and the proper use of training equipment; documentation requirements related to the use of impact weapons; reviewing impact weapon strike zones, striking techniques, and katas; reviewing impact weapon blocking techniques and katas; retaining and controlling impact weapons; and evaluating student performance.
