Guided listening presentations show how traditional forms and styles have led to the urban, professional music popular in many countries today known as "World Beat." It addresses concepts of ethnicity, ethnocentrism, racism, ageism, class differences, and gender issues. It compares the music of the Americas, Africa, Asia, India, Europe, and the Middle East.
