Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course explores the geologic processes that form mountains, as well as the importance of mountains as sources of water, energy, mineral resources, and biodiversity. The environmental hazards posed by mountains are studied, along with the human impacts on mountains. Course content varies by destination and may include topics in geologic processes, geomorphology, meteorology, and plant and animal habitats. This course also introduces geologic field techniques such as geologic map interpretation, and use of compass, rock hammers, and GPS. Field trips are required.
