Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis course provides the student with the most essential and basic aspects of chemistry and physics as they relate to successful hazardous materials incident management. Topics include basic terminology and theory of chemistry, overview of the identification and hazards of salts, hydrocarbons, and other non-salts and, most importantly, provides the student with the skills required to recognize the hazard and behavior of a material given only its chemical identification or formula. It meets standards prescribed by the CA State Fire Marshal and Office of Emergency Services. Pass/No Pass only.
