It emphasizes expressive and receptive nonverbal communication skills between signers who have preliminary American Sign Language syntactical and lexical skills. In addition, it provides an understanding of deaf cultural processes by identifying behaviors and norms through assigned activities. It also includes dialogues that involve asking, empathizing, negotiating and agreeing or disagreeing. It emphasizes non-speech communication.
