- Apprentice. This course expands on CARPT 255 and the Pile Driver Apprentice's knowledge of the appropriate safety procedures when using Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and oxy-fuel cutting and the associated components. This course focuses on welding vertical groove joints (4G). It also covers American Welding Society (AWS) requirements for achieving a welder certification in 4G with FCAW.
