It is built on the study of anatomical terminology, cells, and tissues, followed by expansion into the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Laboratory study is enhanced by the microscopic investigation of tissues, examination of anatomical models, cadavers, and the dissection of preserved material. Laboratory activities may also include both wet-lab experiments and computer simulations.
