It builds upon and applies concepts developed in cell and molecular biology to the study of plants. It covers the anatomy and physiology, morphology, ecology, diversity, and evolution of higher plants. Thorough cladistic analysis is used to study phylogenetic relationships among the cyanobacteria, protists, fungi, and all major plant phyla. It also covers general ecological principles.
