It includes the study of cell biology, evolution, physical oceanography, marine algae, marine vertebrate and invertebrate animals, and the ecology of various marine zones. Field trips focusing on the Central and Northern California coast are required and serve as the laboratory component of this course. Field experiences may include but are not limited to natural history of the rocky intertidal, invertebrate identification, salt marsh ecology, sandy beach ecology, or estuary ecology.
