Topics include critiques of major movements in the history of photography and contemporary gelatin silver process artists. A problem-solving approach is utilized to explore compositional ideas. Camera operation, gelatin silver film developing, and gelatin silver printmaking are covered. Chromogenic color negative film (C-41 film) and color reversal film (E-6 film) processing is also introduced. Digital photography file management and editing concepts are introduced through film scans. A film camera as well as darkroom and portfolio supplies are required.
